Effective altruism is about using evidence and reason to work out how to benefit others as much as possible — and then acting on it.
We are the Amsterdam community built around that idea: people who want their work, donations and time to count for as much as they can. We meet to think hard about the world's most pressing problems, to disagree well, and to help each other turn good intentions into real impact.
We have a student branch and a non-student branch — whichever you are, you are welcome here.
Everyone is welcome
EAA brings together a student group and a group of (young) professionals. We run our own activities and plenty of things together — you are free to join whatever fits you, and no background in effective altruism is needed.
Students
For students at the University of Amsterdam, the Vrije Universiteit and any other school in and around the city. Weekly discussions, socials, talks and workshops during the academic year.
Professionals
For people already working — whether you are one year into a career or twenty. Career conversations, dinners and deep dives with others who take these questions seriously.

New to EA? Join our intro program
Every semester we run the Introductory EA Program: a six-week course through the core ideas of effective altruism. You read a short set of articles each week and then talk them through in a small group with a facilitator.
It is the best way in. You do not need any prior knowledge, you are not expected to agree with any of it, and plenty of people join purely because the questions are interesting.
